About the Blogger

I am Whitney Nielsen, a graduate of Kalamazoo College (B.A. in History & German) and Boston College (M.Ed in Secondary Education).  So far, I have been a teaching assistant in a German school, a tutor for an after-school program, a private tutor, and have taught history and English in schools outside of Boston.  I currently teach at a public high school on the South Shore.

I wanted to start a blog not just to add to the many voices of educators online, but to provide a range of resources for teachers that I wish were available when I was just starting out.  I loved getting tips on how to teach a certain topic, what films or materials were available for a lesson from my colleagues in the teachers’ lounge, but I wanted to be able to expand that community.  The internet had many good resources, but I wanted more than just a typed lesson plan: I needed to know if it worked under what circumstances and what didn’t work in the past.  I hope this blog is useful for teachers who are just starting out or who are just looking for new ideas.
